Las Vegas Skiing

It sounds a bit of a contradiction, but if you fancy a spot of skiing in the middle of the desert, it is not out of your reach. In less than an hour’s traveling time, you have the option to get out your skis or snowboards for a few hours fun in the powdery white stuff.

Although it might not be as large as many other skiing locations. Las Vegas skiing is more than a possibility depending on the time of the year.

Lee Canyon Las Vegas

This is the further of the two from Las Vegas but caters well for both beginner and advanced skiers. They have plenty of runs available which are enough to accommodate the most experienced who need their fix of snow.

If you need a break from hitting the slopes or fancy something a little different, there are plenty of other activities you can do while the rest of the family are busy carving up the slopes. For younger kids, there is snow tubing which is great to kill an hour or two and tire the kids out for the afternoon.  There is also the Foxtail Winter Snowplay area where they can frolic around and make snowballs.

Out of season when skiing in Las Vegas isn’t possible Lee Canyon still has plenty to offer in the form of hiking or biking trails which give plenty of access to many scenic views.

Resort on Mt. Charleston

This is the starting point which tempts most visitors due to the shorter drive. It is based a few minutes from Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort in Lee Canyon and is the hive of all the activities off the slopes. The resort and Lee Canyon enjoy the snow from November through April although this can change from one year to the next.

If you wish to make your Las Vegas skiing trip an overnight affair, there are more than enough rooms available depending on occupancy. Some of the larger ones come with their own balcony where you can get 24-hour views of the scenic Mt. Charleston that sits not far in the distance.

For the end of a fun day of Skiing and you wish for something to fill your belly or merely want for a cocktail to chat over the day’s events. The resort on Mt. Charleston has a high-quality restaurant where you can dine without all the hustle and bustle of Las Vegas. You can either then make the trip back to the Vegas Strip or head to your room ready for another morning of Skiing before you decide to head back.
